uniJet is a ventilation system for covered car parks that keeps them free of pollution and extracts smoke in fire conditions. uniJet uses tunnel ventilation technology to eliminate the need for costly and bulky sheet metal ductwork enabling more efficient use of the space. Ceiling mounted jet fans located around the car park direct the smoke and fumes to collection points, where they are extracted by high temperature fans. Fresh air is introduced to replace the exhausted polluted air. CO detection is incorporated, to enable the system to run on low speed when the pollutant load is low. This results in major energy savings. The system has been proven to be more effective than traditional ducted systems in full scale fire tests.
Assisted natural - the simplest installation uses jet fans natural ventilation by ensuring that air movement is consistent throughout the car park and that pollutants are effectively Smoke clearance can be provided for car parks with insufficient natural ventilation by extracting smoke with high temperature extract fans to provide the minimum ventilation rates Building Regulations. Smoke control can be achieved by a fire engineered solution create virtual smoke zones within the car park.
Smoke Control offer a total solution including design, installation and maintenance meaning we accept total responsibility for the whole package. There is no split responsibility and you are certain that the car park will be handed over on time and with the best level of protection available.
High efficiency axial flow fan with adjustable blades to achieve the required performance. The fan unit is fitted with inlet and outlet silencers to give minimal operational noise levels. Deflector vanes are fitted to the fan outlet to guide the airflow. Fan motors are asynchronous flange type and can be single or two speed. The fans are delivered as a complete unit housed in an attractive oval casing for quick and easy installation. All jet fans are high temperature units to maintain operation in fire conditions.
Extract and inlet shafts may be required as detailed in the project specification. These will be a builder's work construction to Smoke Control Services' requirements and will contain the following components as appropriate:
Compact and robust adjustable pitch axial flow fans. Rated to EN 12101 Part 3 at 300oC /1hr and 200oC /2hrs. Available in various configurations to suit in duct and free inlet situations. Capable of duties ranging from 0.1 - 55m3/s and pressures up to 2,000Pa. The fan motor is prewired to a terminal box for easy connection and an inspection door is provided in the fan casing for maintenance.
A fully integrated control system is provided to deliver the specified system functionality.
The main motor control panel contains the switchgear to operate the complete system including, where applicable, main switch fuses, contactors, circuit breakers, change over switches, timers, PLC unit, and volt free contacts for interface with other systems. Cabinets are powder coated with eyebolts for lifting.
The signals to initiate the ventilation system can be a manual fireman's switch for the simplest installation, or gas and smoke detection for automatic operation. For smoke detection, it is normal practice to interface with the existing smoke detection system but a dedicated smoke detection system can be provided by Smoke Control where required. CO detection is used to enable the ventilation to be used efficiently to maintain safe levels of pollutants within the car park. The ventilation only operates when a build up of carbon monoxide is sensed preventing energy wastage and noise problems within the area.
All system cabling is to Smoke Control's standard specifications and is fire rated to a CWZ classification for smoke control systems.
