A South Wales-based fire safety firm has made a key appointment to its management team to drive its ambitious growth plans.
Smoke
Control Services (SCS) has appointed Louise Umbleja, 26, to the newly
created role of Business Development Manager as part of its strategy to
double turnover to £15m by 2010.
The company, which is based
in Tredomen, north of Caerphilly, supplies leading blue-chip
contractors with one-stop-shop smoke control and ventilation solutions
for multi-storey residential, commercial and retail developments across
the UK.
Some of the company’s long-standing clients include
housebuilder Taylor Woodrow, supermarket chain Morrisons, high street
store Woolworths and commercial property developers Rightacres. Notable
projects undertaken include the London Transport Museum and Victoria
Wharf residential development in Cardiff Bay, while recent contract
wins include providing a smoke control system to the new Media Wales
office development in Cardiff, and to White City, a new £1.6 billion
shopping mall at Shepherd's Bush set to become London’s biggest
shopping centre when it opens its doors this year. The company is also
providing a smoke control system to Callaghan Square, a new commercial
premises development set to provide more than half a million square
feet of office space in central Cardiff.
Louise has amassed a wealth
of experience in marketing and communications since graduating in
Public Relations and Marketing from St Mark and St John’s College,
Exeter University, in 2002. Her previous roles include Marketing
Manager at business support agency Entrepreneur Action and Senior
Account Executive at Cardiff-based Working Word Public Relations.
At
Smoke Control Services Louise will be responsible for identifying new
market opportunities and developing strategies for targeting new
markets.
Smoke Control Services was established in 1992 and

innovation and quality.

“I
am excited to be joining Smoke Control Services at a key point in the
company’s development. I look forward to developing my professional
experience and expertise in this dynamic sector and to helping the
company achieve its ambitious growth plans.”
Managing director Allan Meek said:
“With
the popularity of apartment living on the increase across the UK and
the boom in the commercial and retail sectors, we are undergoing an
exciting period of expansion. The appointment of Louise is a key
element of our growth strategy as we look to expand into new sectors
and exploit opportunities in the markets in which we currently operate.”
